Let's Play!

A few quick & easy steps to get up & running!

STEP 1: Go to peardeck.com. Create a free Pear Deck account.

STEP 2: Click 'Start a Vocab List' & add your vocab terms.

Search for a vocabulary list by subject, paste in your own list, or type in your own terms. Use the built-in Merriam-Webster dictionary to help fill in definitions as you go!

STEP 3: Click PLAY FLASHCARD FACTORY!

Your game code will be displayed & directions guide students to join.

1. Students will go to joinpd.com.

2. They will be instructed to log in with their Google account.

3. Next, they will enter the GAME CODE.

4. A yellow task list will appear while they wait for all to join.

5. Teacher clicks 'CLOCK IN' when all students have joined.

6. Students are grouped into teams, Day shift & Night shift.

7. Within each team, students are grouped into pairs.

8. Students create flash cards with drawings & explanations.

9. The whole class reviews, debates & approves the cards.

10. The team with the most approved cards wins!


Optional: Ship approved cards to QUIZLET for self-paced practice.

There are the many 'self-paced' activities & games for students to practice with the vocabulary cards. These activities require minimal instructions. Students can typically figure out how to play!

Manage your Sessions

After you log in, click 'Sessions' at the top left. You can do all of the following:

  1. Name your untitled sessions (so that you can tell them apart.)
  2. Return to the same session on a different day with the SAME CODE, so students can continue working.
  3. Return the same session on a different day with a NEW CODE. (Great for specialists w/multiple classes.)
  4. Archive old sessions, so that they are hidden from your dashboard.
  5. Unarchive sessions, so old sessions appear on your dashboard.

Return to a Session using the SAME CODE.

To return to a session using the SAME code, click the SESSION title.

Students will be able to continue making flashcards if they did not finish the first time.

From the vertical dots menu on the bottom right, scroll up to Production Phase for students to continue creating cards. Or, go to Quality Control to debate which cards get approved.

Return to a Session using a NEW CODE.

To return to a session using a NEW code, click the FILE title.


Then, click Start Flashcard Factory. A new code will appear.
