Rachel Pounders

Rachel is the youth minister at South Baton Rouge Church of Christ. Church camp has been a part of nearly every year of Rachel’s life. She has also counseled or directed summer camps in Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, and Louisiana. She served as co-director for the teen session of Encounter alongside her husband, Jimmy, in 2022 and 2023.

Rachel taught middle school math after graduating from Harding University in 2016. She received her MSW (21') and PhD(25') in Social Work from LSU. Her previous work after teaching centered around working at local, state, and national levels to address the youth mental health crisis and researching how relationships help students facing adversity succeed.

Rachel and Jimmy, director of the teen session of camp, have been married since 2019. They have one toddler son who is the light of their lives. Rachel is deeply passionate about youth experiencing the abundant life that following Jesus offers. She seeks to help students everywhere know that they are fully known and deeply loved.
