About Encounter

Here you will find the values that form the core of Encounter.  We are mindful of these values as we plan for and carry out Encounter events.

Encounter Jesus & His Community ...
and have fun doing it!

Safe

Encounter provides a safe place for young people to meet Jesus and get to know Him more deeply. Our counselors and staff are fully vetted, and all have completed child protection training. Trained and certified lifeguards, a nurse, and CPR certified staff and counselors are on-site to ensure our campers’ safety.

Christ-Centered

Encounter is a Christ-centered experience, focused on our deep love for Jesus, the joy we have being in relationship with Him, and the calling that comes from knowing Him.

Connected

Encounter seeks to foster community like that of the early church in Acts 2:42. We want to be a welcoming place to connect with one another and with God and grow in those relationships while being devoted to the calling of Jesus.

Fun

Encounter seeks to be a place to have fun and be creative through games, sports, and other activities so campers can create shared experiences, build relationships, and see God’s goodness.

Biblical

As a ministry of the South Baton Rouge Church of Christ, Encounter seeks to provide a camp experience consistent with SBRCC’s core beliefs, mission, and vision, all rooted in biblical truths and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Intergenerational

Encounter seeks to foster chains of relationships that stretch between generations, placing high value in those with wisdom, and creating opportunities for mentorship passed down from leaders to counselors and counselors to students.

Empowering

Encounter is a place where all campers and leaders, as God's unique creation, can use and develop their talents for Jesus.

Galatians 3:28

Intentional

We seek to be intentional in our planning, creative process, and execution to provide the most meaningful and relevant experience possible for our teenagers and leaders.

Unplugged

Encounter seeks to be set apart from the grind of daily life, creating a place to bring burdens and unplug from busyness.
