6th Grade Science - Mr. Coffey

Sixth grade Science at BMS is a course designed to enhance and build each student’s scientific background as well as to encourage scientific inquiry. Students will utilize the following strategies: curriculum reading, interactive technology, digital lessons, hands-on labs, research, videos, and more. 

At BMS we use a phenomenon based curriculum from Amplify Science. We study seven  different units of Science content:

• Microbiome

• Metabolism

• Traits and Reproduction

• Thermal Energy

• Ocean, Atmosphere, and Climate

• Weather Patterns

• Earth’s Changing Climate

Materials Needed:

• Pencil bag with at least 3 working pencils

• Earbuds (wired not Bluetooth)

• Pocket folder

• Spiral notebook (provided)

• Chromebook (provided)

*Having a charged Chromebook every day is very important!

6th Grade Late Work Policy

The highest grade a student may earn on a late daily work assignment is 70%. Assignments over 2 weeks late are not accepted and will be entered into the gradebook as a zero. 

Extra Credit

There is extra credit available every quarter.
