Class Description
Sports Literature uses analysis and evaluation of novels, speeches, short stories and nonfiction essays as the foundation of the course. The focus of the course is a survey of Sports Literature examining the style, rhetoric, and social impact sports can have. Each unit contains, in addition to representative literary works, an emphasis on historical events, philosophical developments and cultural context that influenced the writers of each period and their readers. Major selections include Friday Night Lights. news articles, biographies, autobiographies, non-fiction stories, and films will also be utilized in order to create further understanding and points of view.
