Allan Dumbreck - Programme Leader / Senior Lecturer

Edinburgh University graduate (Elec Eng). Session musician (including The Big Dish / Horse). 35 years experience of music education (HE / FE). Author of the Music Education Directory and “Music Entrepreneurship” (Bloomsbury, 2015). Creator of EuroGig international music exchange network and programme leader / founder of BA (Hons) Commercial Music.

Dr Kenny Forbes - Lecturer

Dr. Kenny Forbes is a Lecturer in Commercial Music. His research interests lie broadly in the field of live music, with a particular focus on liveness and live music memories. He also retains an interest in other areas within Popular Music Studies, such as copyright, creativity, the digital music economy, and Music in Everyday Life. Kenny received his doctorate from the University of Glasgow in 2015, with a thesis that investigated the ‘legendary’ reputation of the Glasgow Apollo theatre (1973-85).

Dr Jenn Kirby - Lecturer

Dr Jenn Kirby is a composer, performer and music technologist. She is the Programme Leader for the MA Music framework. Her musical outputs include contemporary classical composition, sound art, avant-pop, and live-electronics. Jenn’s current research focus is on the design of new digital musical instruments to aid musical expression.

Paul McGeechan - Lecturer / Commercial Sound Production Programme Leader

Paul’s expertise is based on his practice as a widely published writer / composer, engineer, producer and as a music technologist. His creative practice output includes many published albums and high-profile performances with his former groups Friends Again, Love & Money and his current project Starless. Paul has mixed over 150 albums and Mastered in excess of 500 projects.

Clark Neville - Lecturer.

As an audio engineer with over twenty years’ experience, and a passion for all things sound related, Clark has recorded multiple genres including Folk, Jazz, Blues, Metal, Rock and Psychedelia. Clark has a comprehensive knowledge of audio recording, with an in-depth working knowledge of both analogue and digital audio equipment. Clark also has experience in Post Production audio and recently completed his Msc in Sound Design, where he received a distinction for his research in relation to Audio and those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease.



James Savage - Lecturer

James’ academic background is in Audio Technology. He has been composing and producing music for over 20 years with a focus on electronic based composition. Under the name Naum Gabo he has released many recordings globally and collaborated in remixes with artists such as Snow Patrol, MGMT, Franz Ferdinand and Hot Chip. His other work includes Audio Post for film, and is also a mastering engineer for a multitude of artists and record labels.


Ronnie Gilmour - Lecturer

Ronnie is a musician, sound engineer and educator. He is the college co-ordinator for the BA Commercial Sound Production course and is involved in the delivery of project-based, practical and theoretical subjects. He holds an MSc. In Sound Design and is a qualified Avid Pro Tools instructor.

He has many years of work experience as a live sound engineer, and currently performs and records with James Edwyn & The Borrowed Band.
