Clare Duffin has lectured on the Commercial Music programme for over 10 years. Her PhD research is focused on 'mothering and freelance music practices' making contributions in this field in The Cambridge Companion to Women in Music since 1900 (2021. Her portfolio career sees her practice span across artist management, community music, social media strategy and as a member of the activism group for Scottish Women Inventing Music (SWIM) and research on gender issues for Project Four.

Dr. Kenny Forbes is a Lecturer in Commercial Music. His research interests lie broadly in the field of live music, with a particular focus on liveness and live music memories. He also retains an interest in other areas within Popular Music Studies, such as copyright, creativity, the digital music economy, and Music in Everyday Life. Kenny received his doctorate from the University of Glasgow in 2015, with a thesis that investigated the ‘legendary’ reputation of the Glasgow Apollo theatre (1973-85).

Dr Jo Collinson Scott is a Reader in Music specialising in songwriting and music in society. Her research looks at the role of songwriting in understanding and addressing social issues including climate change, criminal justice and mental health stigma. She is also a distinguished songwriter, performer and community educator, working internationally under the name Jo Mango.

Paul’s expertise is based on his practice as a widely published writer / composer, engineer, producer and as a music technologist. His creative practice output includes many published albums and high-profile performances with his former groups Friends Again, Love & Money and his current project Starless. Paul has mixed over 150 albums and Mastered in excess of 500 projects.

David Scott is a composer / performer with 35 years experience recording and touring. As a broadcaster he has developed and presented programmes for BBC Scotland since 2000. He brings this professional expertise to his teaching and research as Senior Lecturer, Music and Arts Lead, School of Business & Creative Industries.

Dr Iain A. Taylor is Co-Programme Leader for MA Music at the West of Scotland. His research is concerned with music, materiality, digitalisation and space. In particular, he is interested in the changing cultural meanings associated with physicality and digitally in relation to music production and consumption. Prior to entering academia, Iain worked variously in events marketing, PR, and as a multi-instrumentalist musician.

Songwriter, singer, community artist and founder of SongSeeds Songwriting Retreats, Rebecca (Becci) Wallace has worked as an associate Lecturer on the Commercial Music and Ma Music programs for 7 years. Becci is currently undertaking a PhD in hip-hop pedagogy at Edinburgh Napier University and is a Graduate of UWS MA Songwriting. Now a new full-time member of the Commercial music team, Becci actively releases music nationally and is a key facilitator within the local DIY music ecosystem.

Joining UWS in 2021, Jayne Stynes is a lecturer in commercial music. With ten years experience working in the music industries, Jayne was previously general manager of UK trade body the Music Managers Forum and artist manager at Eleven Management. She is currently a PhD researcher at Goldsmiths University, exploring the significance of gender focused initiatives in the music industry.
