Kudos
Kudos to Kristi Leader on her new number talks video! I had a chance to watch Shannan Usher do number talks with her 5th grade students last week and it was great. Students were practicing their mental math and working hard to solve the problem. Great job to those elementary teachers making this happen on a daily basis! I know Kristi's video will get a lot of use both in and out of the district.
Demo Calendars Due May 3
Keep sending me those calendars! It is helpful to have extra eyes on them before you get them signed by your admin. After I take a quick look and say the calendar looks good, you can have your admin sign, then add to this folder as a PDF. Please make sure your calendar is hortional (so you can read it). Thank you!

If you have a photo you would like me to use (other than the one that is there), please send it. Also, if you have any ideas for new pages or additional information, please send my way! Always looking to improve it

April 22 Demo Meeting
At our last Demo Team meeting on 2/22, we discussed the following items: Notetaking vs. Copying, and the SBAC Interim Assessments. We asked you to bring the following back to our next meeting:
1. Is copying necessary, or is there another strategy that has higher engagement? Who is doing the work while students are copying? What are the alternatives? How might you apply what you have discussed in your classroom? PRACTICE - bring artifacts to the 4/22 meeting; be prepared to share with your groups.
2. For testing grades, how do you currently use the interim assessments, or how might you start using htem? For non-testing grades or content, how might you use them to prepare your students for testing? How might you apply what you have discussed in your classroom? PRACTICE - bring artifacts to the 4/22 meeting; be prepared to share with your groups.
Kudos
Kudos to Marilynn Murad and her team at Monterey ES for putting on an excellent STEAM Event on Friday! Thank you to Jackie Lacey for bringing the snakes and to all other Demos who supported the event.
Kudos to Sola Oyinsan on his new Demo video! This one is about teaching math through the four principles of how people learn. We will get a lot of use out of this video for sure.
Kudos to former Demo Teacher Chris Petriccione for leading his STEM pathay at Curtis MS to Gold Linked Learning Certification! It is only the 2nd middle school in the state of California to have a Linked Learning Pathway that has a Gold Distinction. Great job Chris P! We are excited for you to help other pathways at other sites along this same road.

Ontario Montclair Team Visit 4/5
Kudos to Demo Teachers Lori Bowen, Amber Avery and Carla Hernandez for hosting our OMSD partners on Friday! The Spotlight Classroom Team from OMSD spent the morning and afternoon with us on Friday, learning about our program and observing our team in action. They had a great day and were so impressed at many aspects of our program. We are excited to partner with them and hope to continue to work with their team in the future. I put some pix up on our Demo Team Facebook page if you want to check them out.
