I approach technology integration with intentionality, carefully selecting tools and platforms that promote meaningful experiences. Furthermore, I continuously seek emerging innovations to refine my practice. I not only utilize technology to deliver content, but I also employ technology to plan, assess, record, and analyze student data. This reflective and purposeful approach ensures that I will continue to develop as an instructional designer and educator, creating effective learning experiences.
Learning Management Systems:
Platforms such as Canvas, Moodle, and Google Classroom provide a web-based interface to deliver and organize course content. I have gained experience utilizing these tools and can apply these skills to other learning management systems.
Assessment Tools:
To monitor students' progress, I have used tools such as Google Forms, Quizlet, Quizzes, and Edpuzzle. Google Forms can easily be integrated with my Google Classroom, as students can access their grades, and feedback can be provided utilizing the LMS.
Gamification Tools:
Gimkit, Kahoot, Blooket, and Seesaw provide ways for students to interact and have positive learning experiences with learning content.
Multimedia:
I have gained experience creating videos using Animaker, Canva, Adobe Express, Screencastify, and iMovie. I am also adept at creating digital illustrations, graphics, and instructional visuals utilizing a variety of tools, including Canva, Gimp, and Affinity Photo. In addition, I have developed skills in selecting and sourcing high-quality stock images from platforms including Unsplash, Pexels, and Pixabay to enhance and support student learning.

Reflection
Through the IDT program, I have immensely developed my technology skills to enhance student engagement and participation. My professional growth has helped me come to realize that a “one-size-fits-all” approach is ineffective when integrating technology into designing learning experiences. Previously, I utilized generic online materials, such as YouTube videos, to support student learning. I am now capable of designing and producing customized digital content aligned with specific goals and learning objectives.
I have helped my students create their own visuals to help them process information and to engage students while creating meaningful experiences. My students are using photo editing tools to create one-pager notes, and they collaborate to present their knowledge and ideas through enhanced technical skills. For example, my students created QR codes for quick access to their research papers. Not only do I feel more confident assigning projects, but I am also more confident creating content. I successfully created a video for my incoming 2025-2026 class, and I now use videos to communicate important information to my students’ families. Another skill that I am proud of is creating a podcast. My passion is learning, and one way I learn is through listening to podcasts; therefore, I was extremely excited to be able to add my field of knowledge using a podcasting tool. The process of acquiring new techniques has been fun and exciting.
One big takeaway that I have learned to apply is the Coherence Principle. I realize that I may have added to my students' confusion by incorporating distracting effects and images. Now I focus on my students’ learning goals, and I am tailoring my multimedia to meet my students’ needs. I have learned that streamlined information that is clear and concise is better for my learner, and just because I know how to do something doesn’t mean I should. However tempting it is to add cute graphics or images to a presentation, I restrain myself because I do not want to distract my learners. My lesson presentations have less fluff, and the images and content serve a purpose. Also, I am using engaging effects like transitions to make things interesting for the audience. This principle has been shown to be effective as my students are showing improved performance, particularly in their writing.
I have accomplished more than I thought I was capable of through this program. When I started the process of creating my podcast, I found an audio clip of me at the start of the program. I introduced myself and stated the extent to which I was using technology. I was blown away that I said that I only used Google Slides. I have grown so much. I can make infographics and images, I made a podcast, and my video skills are growing too! I am so thankful for all I have learned through this program
