Library Guidelines

• Bring your student ID barcode or class schedule for library service. You can get that as a barcode printed out for you or on your Chromebook on the library status page.

  1. •     You need a pass from your teacher to be in the library during class time. 

• The school’s NO phone policy applies in the library too (leave your phones in your bags).

• Eating & drinking in the library is not allowed (that means no gum too, thank you!)

• Treat the library with respect; use indoor voices, be polite to staff and other students, and treat library materials responsibly.

  1. •     Please keep our books clean and safe when you check them out. You are responsible for books you check out, so treat them well and don't lose them. :)

• Look for your book quietly, but please ask for help if you get stumped. If you don't remember where a book goes back on the shelf, bring it to the library counter for staff to put back for you.

• Choose your new book(s)! You may check out TWO books at a time. Check out is for two weeks at a time. You may bring your books back before they are due if you finish or want to try a different book.

• We do not charge late fees; we do charge for LOST books. 

  1. •     Lost library books are priced based on cost to replace them. Lost textbooks are $70.00 each.

• Library charges stay on your record for as long as you are enrolled at any SBC district school. Charges for library or textbooks may hold up distribution of student records, diplomas and will keep students from participating in special school events. This can also prevent you from enrolling in college. Make sure to keep your record current!

Did You Know?

• The original GV library was destroyed by a fire in 1998.

• Our new library was re-opened on June 7, 2001.

• It is named for the first principal who ever worked at Golden Valley, Joyce R. Cozzo.

• We have books in English and Spanish.

• Our books are for information and for fun.

• The library is more than only books!
