These tasks provide opportunities for students to link and rethink about the concepts and skills they have previously learned in mathematics, making connections, and often extending the students understand of a concept that will be taught in the upcoming chapter.  

In addition to this, these tasks align to the 2023 Math Framework and support Equitable and Engaging Teaching Practices for ALL students and: 

• Have an entry point for all students; low-floor high-ceiling

• Support access to flexible thinking; multiple approaches 

• Support teacher’s formative assessment

• Support linguistically and culturally diverse learners

• Support learners with identified learning differences
