Center for Parent Information and Resources The Center for Parent Information & Resources (CPIR) is the central hub of valuable information and products specifically designed for the network of Parent Centers serving families of children with disabilities.
Parent to Parent Parent to Parent of New York State builds a supportive network of families to reduce isolation and empower those who care for people with developmental disabilities or special healthcare needs to navigate and influence service systems and make informed decisions.
General Advocacy
NYSELFD The Coalition is an ad hoc group of parents and professionals dedicated to promoting self-determination as an option for persons with developmental disabilities who require support through the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. The Coalition works to promote positive system change to bring about public policy reform, financial integrity, and ultimately, increased satisfaction for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities. NYSELFD members also mentor parents who have questions about self-directed services.

Suffolk County Silver Alert Program The Suffolk County Police Department is pleased to inform you of the availability of our Special Needs/Silver Alert program. This free program enables relatives or caregivers to register persons with special needs in the Police Department’s database. This information will be furnished to first responders and police officers responding to an emergency situation involving the registrant.
Project Lifesaver | Suffolk County Sheriffs Office Project Lifesaver is a rapid-response program that aids victims (and their families) who wander as a result of cognitive impairments, or other afflictions. The program combines technology and specially trained Sheriff’s Deputies to locate individuals who have wandered.
Sign Up for NY Alert | NY Alert NY-Alert is New York State’s Mass Notification System used to warn residents of emergencies and critical information in a timely manner to help protect lives and keep New Yorkers safe.
