Seminar Cum Mock Interview Workshop -  3/10/2023 

The Department of Research and Innovation successfully conducted a One-day Seminar Cum Mock Interview Workshop on the topic, “How to get Hired”. The resource person, Mr. Syed Ali, Lead-HR, HCL Tech, presented his expert opinion on the given subject area. Following the lecture, we had a student-speaker inter-action session, where the resource person picked the most proactive student to be awarded. The valedictory session had a Mock interview workshop session as well, where students were split into teams and mock interviews were conducted under the supervision of the HR resource person. The two best teams were awarded.

International Conference on Innovations in Eco-Friendly Management of Toxic Pollutants (Micro, Macro, Nano Dimensional)- ICIEMTP-2023   20/09/2023 - 21/09/2023

The Department of Research and Innovation organized the International Conference on Innovations in Eco-Friendly Management of Toxic Pollutants (micro, macro, nano dimensional)- ICIEMTP-2023, on 20th and 21st September, 2023. The conference was spread across two days and was attended by 550 participants.  

Pre-Conference Workshop -  14/09/2023

On September 14th, 2023 the department of Research and Innovation conducted a pre-conference workshop. The workshop was attended by 250 participants. The one day workshop was a grand success and many participants expressed their positive feedbacks 

Seminar  “Beginners guide to Start-up Ecosystem" - 08/09/2023

Department of Research and Innovation organized a One-day seminar on,” Beginners guide to Startup Ecosystem”, on 08-09-23. The resource person for the event was Mr. Shivaramakrishnan, Co-Founder and CTO, Forest Studio Labs and Soul Sci-entific Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Shivaramakrishnan truly enlightened our young minds with basic guidelines to establish a start-up. He shared his experiences and rhetorically built his presentation starting from the grassroot levels of start-ups, with prominent examples. The students got to listen to and be inspired by a peer in this arena. We closed with a feedback session, where two students offered their wholehearted feedback on the lecture.

Seminar  “Leadership Development and Succession Planning" - 25/08/2023

On 25th August Department of Research and Innovation organized a one day seminar on “Leadership Development and Succession Planning : Building Tomorrows Leaders”. Two expert speakers were invited and they addressed our students. Ms. Archana Mukundan, Senior Manager, HRBP, Uniphore, Chennai   and Mr. S . Anthony Valen, Head, Placement, SRM (ramapuram and Trichy) were the resource persons. The talk was attended by more than 300 students. 

One-Day Industrial Visit to IIT Madras Research Park, Start-up Pre-Incubation Centre on 03.02.2023 

On 03/02/23, The Department of research and innovation, organized a IIC themed Industrial Visit to the start up incubation center of theevanam nutraceuts Ltd, tharamani, with a on the site presentation by Director, Prof. Mukesh Doble.About 52 SSE students from the department of Research and Innovation were taken for the Visit.

Cellulose\Metal-organic Frameworks (CelloMOFs) for Multifunctional Applications – exploring business opportunities 

The webinar titled “Cellulose\Metal-organic Frameworks (CelloMOFs) for Multifunctional Applications" on 07.10.2022 Dr. Hani Nasser Abdelhamid, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Assiut University, Assiut Egypt.He delivered a lecture today on “Cellulose\Metal-organic Frameworks (CelloMOFs) for Multifunctional Applications and their business opportunities” in which he addressed the basic chemistry Cellulose\Metal-organic Frameworks (CelloMOFs) and their business oppurtunities that was very useful for students who want to become entrepreneurs. He had explained his research on 3D printing CelloMOF for Drug delivery, CelloMOFs for Electrochemical Sensors CelloMOF Foam CO2 Adsorption, CelloMOF for Water Treatment, MOFs for Energy Storage, Supercapacitors, MOFs for Biomedical Applications and CelloMOFs for Self-cleaning Textile.

Next-generation fluorescence surfactants for protein sensing 

The webinar titled “Next-generation fluorescence surfactants for protein sensing" on 08.06.2021, Speaker  Dr. Chandra Sourabh Azad, Post-Doctoral Researcher, Department of Chemistry Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, USA. The focus of the talk was on the quenching of the surfactants to sense the proteins through fluorescence. A series of amino acid precursors starting from tryptophan to 5-hydroxytryptophan to 5-hydroxytryptamine to aryl alkylamine N-acetyltransferace to melatonin for the preparation of required surfactant. Then explained different experiments to design the unsymmetrical and symmetrical surfactants to target the proteins, impact of temperature on surfactants mobility that turns inotropic/anotrophic between surfactants and molecules. He suggested that the florescence quenching efficiency with respect to CMC was evaluated through a series of experiments using different parameters.

Recent Advancement in Electron Microscopy Techniques for Biological Specimens 

The webinar titled Recent applications in scanning electron microscopy for biological specimen, Dr.Arul Maximus Rabel, Product Applications Scientist-Electron Microscopy-Asia Pacific Region, Carl Zeiss, Singapore. The speaker has clearly reveals the role of scanning electron microscopy in analysis of divers biological specimens.This presentation offered a valuable insight into the biological specimen characterization using advanced SEM techniques. National and international Scientists, faculties, Research scholars and students were participated in this talk. Indeed, this talk will be an excellent platform for gaining the scientific sound scientific content of microscopy techniques in biologicalspecimen analysis.

Industry Exposure on Data Science and Its Applications

The webinar titled “Industry Exposure on Data Science and Its Applications“ was conducted by the Department of Research & Innovation on 8th March 2022, 3 to 4 pm through G-Meet platform and the resource person was Dr.A.Rengarajan, Professor/School of CS and IT, Jain (Deemed-to-be) University, Bangalore. 

Big-data Analytics in Healthcare

The webinar titled “Bigdata Analytics in Healthcare"  speaker Dr.L.Anand, Assistant Professor, Department of Networking &Communications, SRMIST, SRM University, Kattankulathur Campus, Chennai on  7th July 2022, His session has covered the basics concept of bigdata that contains greater V3 (Variety, Volumes and Velocity). Also he had briefed about Prerequisites of Data Science, different Skills required becoming a Data Scientist. Dr.Anand’s session also covered the types of big data such as structured, unstructured and semi- structured. He had explained about few real time examples of big data in various domains such as healthcare, speech recognition and fraud detection etc.

To protect the universe from toxic organic pollutants

The webinar titled “To protect the universe from toxic organic pollutants on 10.06.2021, Dr. S. David, Ph.D.,   Post-Doctoral Fellow, Chonnam National University. He delivered the lecture on “To protect the universe from toxic organic pollutants” in which, he addressed the chemical and biological pollution of the environment. He also explained the remedial measures to combat environmental pollution. He explained the synthesis of Zinc oxide and cobalt hybrid nanoparticles by combining Zinc oxide and Cobalt chloride mixture. The NPs thus formed were used to degrade peacock green and methylene orange dye contaminants in water to obtain pure water for a legitimate purpose.

Exploring plant-based bioactive compounds as a functional food and drugs in cancer research

The webinar titled “ Exploring Plant-based Bioactive compounds as a Functional Food and Drug in Cancer Research"  on 07.06.2021, The focus of the talk was on the bioprospecting of valuable biomolecules with therapeutic potential to treat cancer cells and thus he explained his work of extracting spermatocytes from red onion skin and its apoptotic potential, anticancer, and enzyme inhibitory effects. Further, he had also explained the utilization of flavonoid glycosides from Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) flower by-products for anti-cancer effects. He also explained the extracted Quercetin-3-glucoside from apple pomace that induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis by increasing intracellular ROS levels.

Roadmap to get Quality Patents

The webinar titled “Roadmap to get quality patents" on 11.05.2021 Speaker Mr. Sasikumar Chandran, Chief Executive Officer, HumCen Global Pvt. Ltd, India. He delivered a lecture on “Roadmap to get quality patents” in which he addressed the significance of intellectual property, and he also discussed the importance of claiming ownership for an idea/innovation. In addition to that he also addressed how to converting an indigenous idea into a patent and in order to hold the rights to that innovation and also how to overcome the hurdles in patent filing. Further, during his talk he described different types of patents and its applications, scope and commercial importance. Followed by, the speaker provided the guidelines for getting patents This talk found to be highly informative and useful to all the participants who have come from academics, industries and research sectors.

Integrated data analysis of genomics to proteomics

The webinar titled “ INTEGRATED DATA ANALYSIS OF GENOMICS TO PROTEOMICS " on 06.06.2021, Dr. Vimala Anthonydhasan is a Research Scientist in Prof. Ruth Palmers research Group, Institute for Biomedicine, University of Gothenburg, Sahlgrenska Academy, Sweden. She addressed the importance of single cell analysis and more specifically about single cell RNA sequence analysis. She also highlighted the significance of SC RNA sequence analysis with the context of disease biology metabololically disordered diseases such as cancer. She also emphasized the role of identified mutation of ALK genes in cancer disease progression in neuro blastoma cells. Her talk was very informative and useful for all the participants who have come from academics, industries and research sectors.

The webinar titled " Water: the essential of life " on 21.05.2021, Speaker Dr. N. Pugazhenthiran Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Laboratorio de Fotoquímica y Fotofísica, Departamento de Química, Universidad TécnicaFederico Santa María, Campus Casa, Central, Av. España 1680, Valparaíso, Chile. He delivered a lecture today on “Water: The essential of life” in which he addressed the basic chemistry of water. He also explained how water is used as a universal solvent and how the water is essential for every life of this planet. He further addressed that the per-capita usage of water and the models that predict water scarcity that is going to happen in near future. Being an expert in water chemistry, he had explained the scientific process of getting pure water from contaminated sources which is the prerequisite for water conservation and recycling. He explained his research on water purification using nanotechnology.
