Work Permit Process
Step 1: Complete the Work Permit Application below. (Be sure to have your counselor sign the bottom square that says "For authorized work permit issuer.")
Step 2: Scan or take a picture of the application and upload it by clicking the big red button above ("Submit Work Permit CLICK HERE")
Step 3: The processed work permit will be emailed to you.
Step 4: Hand your permit to your employer.
Step 5: Begin working.

When does my work permit expire?
Yes, Work Permits expire every term. Fall/Spring/ and Summer.
How do I renew my work permit?
Work Permits can be renewed by filling out a new work permit application and submitting it to the "Submit Work Permit" button.
Where do I get a work permit application?
You can pick up a work permit application at the CTE office located at Willard Intermediate School.
You can also save time by downloading a digital application and submit it online using the Google Form below.
Who do I turn it into?
You can submit your application online through the google form.
You can physically turn it into the CTE Office located at Willard Intermediate School.
Do I have to put my SSN?
YES! You must have your SSN OR ITIN listed on your application in order for it to be processed. If you do not include either of these on your application, it will be denied and you will need to resubmit with all the information.
Does my counselor have to sign it?
During the school year, your counselor must sign your application because they need to perform a grade check. There is a GPA requirement of at least a 2.0 to be eligible for a work permit.
During the summer your counselor does not need to sign your permit.
How long does it take for a permit to be processed?
3-5 business days.
When do I need a work permit?
After you have received a job offer you must apply for a work permit.
All students enrolled in high school/intermediate must have a permit in order to work.
Do my grades affect my ability to get a work permit?
During the school year you must have at least a 2.0 GPA in order to be issued a permit, as well as be in good academic standing with your school. Your counselor will sign off on your work permit application if you meet all the requirements.
Do we provide entertainment work permits?
Yes! We also issue entertainment work permits. They will look different than our usual work permits, but it will be an official permit.

We use the guidelines given to us by the State of California to base the amount of hours a student is allowed to work in a given week. Please see below to see what hours your work permit will reflect. Keep in mind, your counselor can request a restricted work permit, meaning it will have different guidelines/expiration date.
