Krista Dornbush
AP/AVID Program Specialist
Krista Dornbush is a recent addition to SAUSD as Program Specialist for AP and AVID. She was a history/social studies classroom teacher for 22 years specializing in Advanced Placement. She then joined the staff of the College Board to work on State and District Partnerships and served as Director of AP Government and Human Geography. Most recently, she worked in Client Relations for ACT.
Krista is an expert in all things College Board, assessment and College and Career Readiness. She also has extensive knowledge in AVID and teacher professional development.

District Librarian
Tamara Davis is the District Librarian for SAUSD. Prior to the district office, she was a high school librarian as well as an English and reading intervention teacher within the district. Before teaching, she worked in public, university, and community college libraries.
Her areas of expertise include library services and literacy. She is also responsible for textbook orders and supports several technology programs including Nearpod, Lexia, and AR.

TIPS Program Specialist
Dawn Aguila has been part of the SAUSD community for 37 years, first as a K-12 student, then as an elementary and middle school mild/mod teacher at Santiago, Carr, Jackson and Villa. She is currently a Program Specialist in the TIPS department supporting induction, mentoring/coaching, and professional development. Dawn is passionate about serving the community and advocating for the support and development Santa Ana’s educators.
Dawn can provide support in the areas of coaching/mentoring development, GoPD, and technology integration (Canvas/Google).

Christina Sullivan
Early Literacy Specialist
Christina Sullivan is one of the elementary, early literacy curriculum specialists. Prior to working at the district office, she taught 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade in Santa Ana. This is her 20th year working in the district.
Her area of expertise is elementary English language arts and she is able to support grades TK-5 in foundational skills, writing, and all other areas of English language arts. She supports Benchmark Advance and SIPPS instruction including both whole and small group

Elementary Math Specialist
MaryEllen Nicholson is the elementary math curriculum specialists. Prior to working at the district office, she was a classroom teacher for 17 years in Santa Ana. This is her 23th year working with SAUSD.
Her area of expertise is elementary math and she is able to support grades TK-5 in: math curriculum, mathematical rigor, habits of practice, mathematical discourse, problem-solving sense-making strategies, math intervention, and parent math workshops. She supports STMath for TK, K-5 instructional tools (Irvine Math Project & Math Expressions) as well as the supplemental tool of STMath for K-5.

Early Literacy Specialist
In her 22 years with SAUSD Jennifer has taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades at three sites. She has also served as a Reading First Coach, Reading First Curriculum Specialist, and currently as an Early Literacy Curriculum Specialist. Jennifer holds a masters in Reading, a Reading Specialist Certificate, and a Reading Credential.
Currently she offers supports in core reading instruction, with expertise in foundational skills, diagnostic assessment and responsive teaching. Additionally, Jennifer supports SIPPs, Benchmark Universe, and the TK program.

Nereida Prado
G.A.T.E. Program Specialist
Nereida Prado is the K-12 GATE Specialist. She has been part of the SAUSD community as a student, K-8 classroom teacher, Outreach Consultant, instructional coach and GATE specialist.
Nereida can provide support with GATE programming, services, instruction and professional development.

Elementary Literacy & ELD Specialists
Robyn and Linda share all of their jobs and in fact, share one Curriculum Specialist position!
Their entire careers have been focused on providing robust, engaging instruction for English learners. From their first collaboration as part of the district’s inaugural Project GLAD Key Trainer cohort in 2001 to their involvement with the California Reading and Literature Project since 2006 and teaching the ELD course to the secondary candidates in the UCI School of Education for the past 6 years, content and language instruction is always on their minds.

Learning Innovation with Technology Specialist
Before becoming a teacher, David was a Library/Media Tech, opening up both Kennedy and Walker Elementaries.
David believes that every child deserves to be well equipped to thrive in the 21st century.
David can provide sites with training specific to technology integration, instructional tech tools, etc. Please contact him for more information and set up specific site specific support.

Linn Lee
History Curriculum Specialist
Specialist Linn Lee has her BA in History from UC Santa Cruz and her Ed.M from Harvard Graduate School of Education!
Her hope for students is that they reach their true potential everyday.
An interesting fact about Linn is that she is a direct descendant of a Chinese Railroad worker on the transcontinental railroad! She can provide site support for History curricular needs.

ELA Curriculum Specialist
Jason earned his BA from the University of Washington in 1993 and his Master of Science in Educational Administration from National University in 2006.
His current goal is to dramatically increase student literacy and increase the number of students reading at grade level by 30% in the next three years. I believe that with such great teachers in SAUSD, this goal is well within our reach!
Jason can provide site specific supports in the areas of schoolwide literacy, secondary ELD support, and Study Sync implementation.

SPED Curriculum Specialist
David Villalobos has been part of the SAUSD community for 3 years as a curriculum specialist in the area of Special Education.
As a Moderate/Severe classroom teacher, David ensured his students had access to common core aligned lessons and opportunities to learn in the general education setting. During his time as a Mild/Moderate classroom teacher, David worked closely with teachers and support staff to construct support and accommodations for his students in the general education setting.
David can provide site support for Education Specialists in all content areas.

Technology Specialist
James has been part of the SAUSD community for 10 years. Previous experience includes middle school instruction and coordination of assessment and technology in Westminster School District. He currently provides support in Aeries, online credit recovery, and educational technology.
