The SHe(Roes) Among Us

The Santora Building Basement, Gallery B-6 12:00pm-1:00pm

This session will feature local female poets and neighbors that represent the streets and environment of our homes. Oftentimes, women are on the margin of society, public spaces, and are even excluded from voicing their opinions when matters concern them. But the mujeres/women are the She(roes) of our communities for they are the heart, spirit, and voice our homes. Their poetry will enlighten you and remind you of their beautiful strength and their important voices.

HeRoes From the Hood

The Santora Building Basement, Gallery B-6

1:00pm-2:15pm

Heroes rise from these neighborhoods and become educated, become activists, poets, artists. They are the voices that sometimes are unheard since there is so much noise and chaos in their hoods. There is beauty in the expressions from these poets that represent the raw, honest, rugged, and working-class home boy poets.
