Ellis 6-8 Band and Chorus:
Band is open to learners in grades 5-8. Students in these grades can begin to learn to play the following instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone and Percussion (focus on snare and bass drum).
Band is divided by grade level- Grades 5 beginning players and Grade 6-8 players, this year band for grade 6-8 is a music class and part of their daily Unified Arts Schedule! It will coincide with the chorus class, so band students will be asked to sing or to perform with the chorus.
Instruments need to be rented as the school does not have instruments for students to borrow. Sign ups will take place at school during the spring to plan schedules for the following school year.
Please click this link for information on renting instruments from Music and Arts. This link gives further information as well. If you have specific questions about rentals please contact Music and Arts directly. Please put in your rental request through the website given in the rental letter.
I highly recommend renting versus purchasing an instrument. Music and Arts has a wonderful program that will allow you to rent and if the learner decides to switch instruments or no longer participate they can take back the instrument versus being stuck with an expensive instrument that collects dust.
This year the 6-8 chorus is a class during the students Unified Arts Class! It will coincide with the band class, so these students will be asked to participate in band whether it be taking up an instrument or learning a percussion part. Information was sent home in the spring, we hope students were able to make a choice. We will be asking students final choices for instruments in our first days of school.
Syllabus, etc is under construction.
Please note: Students are required to attend two concerts, a winter concert and spring concert date will be posted soon.
