Homework Expectations for Students and Parents

Homework Folder

Your child is expected to bring their homework folder home every night and return it to school every morning. This folder will be used to send home important information from the office, other teachers, and myself. This folder will also contain your child's homework, in which we ask that you please check over your child's homework with them when they've completed it.

Nightly Homework Expectations

• 20 minutes of reading (If your child wants to read more, please encourage it!)

• Practice Spelling

• Math Practice

Student Homework Expectations:

• Student is expected to do homework on their own. If they get stuck, they may ask for help.

• Student is to return homework on time.

Parent Homework Expectations:

• Provide a distraction free homework zone for students to work.

• Students are responsible for doing homework, parents should help if they are stuck or the work is ready to be checked.

• Stop after a reasonable amount of time or before your child becomes frustrated and write me a note letting me know what happened.

Note to parents:

*Your child should not spend more than a half hour on their homework each night. Please let me know if your child is frustrated and struggling with their homework so modifications can be made.
