Many of you know how to turn in work when it is completed, but did you know you can mark an assignment done as well. You would use this feature if your teacher assigned a video to watch or typed a post for you to read, but not actually submit any work.
Kami PDF Annotator
Kami PDF and document annotator is a application and extension that allows users to annotate, highlight, markup, insert, etc. any PDF, document, powerpoint, image. Annotated documents can be shared, saved, or printed.
The district has pushed out the Kami extension to everyone, including the staff and students.
Rocketbook
Several of you may have received an overhead projector page which looks a lot like the image to the right. This is meant to be used, if needed, to scan pages and send the to your teacher.
The Rocketbook System is the combination of a special notebook and a free mobile app. Write notes and create designs in your notebook with a pen. Then, using patent-pending image capture technology, the Rocketbook app accurately and quickly captures and sends your notes to pre-configured cloud services to be stored or shared with others.
If you or your parents downloads the Rocketbook app for either android or iOS you can quickly and easily upload work by simply placing the overhead over the document to scan using the app then share it with your teacher.
Image or Video Submission
During our Remote Learning adventure you may be asked to submit a video or turn in an image or video to a specific teacher. I know many of you have a phone you can do some of this on, but for the rest of you with just a computer here is an option you can use.
Google Meet
Google Meet is a video conferencing app. It is the business-oriented version of Google's Hangouts platform and is suitable for businesses of all sizes. The solution enables users to make video calls with up to 30 users per high-definition video meeting.
Students can't start their own Google Meet, but they can join one their teacher has started. During a Google Meet you can facetime your teacher and classmates and either your teacher can share their desktop via presentation or you can your desktop with your teacher.
Google recently made some changes to Google Meet and has integrated it with Google Classroom to make it easier for students and teachers to work together in a more secure environment.
You can join Meets now for specific classes simply by going to your assigned Google Classrooms and clicking the specific Meet link found on the Stream banner or via the Meet button on the Classwork tab, but you won't be able to join unless a teacher is already in the Meet.
Google Meet has several great features that make it easy to use and participate.
For example:
you can pin your teacher to be the main screen you see
you can adjust the way participants are viewed on your screen
you can silence your microphone so your teacher doesn't hear everything going on around you.
you can mute participants who are interfering in the discussion, so that you can't hear them
Many people complained that Google Meet doesn't have the grid view feature like other video conferencing apps. Google has been working hard to improve Meet and has recently released the Google Meet Grid View Extension.
BrainPOP
Many of you already know the funny robot, Moby and his friends Cassie, Tim, or Annie but did you know that your teachers can assign you specific videos and activities to do right in BrainPOP?
Some of you may have watch BrainPOP videos that were linked on Classroom. You may have even completed the quizzes or worksheets before online or printed, but now all of you can access BrainPOP videos and activities simply by signing in to BrainPOP through Clever.
Edpuzzle
Edpuzzle is a great tool that allows teachers to take a YouTube video and embed questions in it at certain times to be answers, crop or edit the video to a specific part for instruction, etc..
During our Remote Learning adventure, your teachers may choose to assign work through EDpuzzle, so here are a few resources to help you out if needed.
Newsela
Many of you are familiar with Newsela articles and may have been assigned them in the past. Newsela recently opened their Pro Version for all teachers for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, to help with remote learning.
The easiest way to access Newsela is through CLEVER.
Teachers have classes in Newsela and can assign articles and quizzes, which you will be able to find in your BINDER once you sign into Newsela.
Clever
Clever brings all K12 applications into one secure portal and provide single sign-on for everyone in the district.
We use Clever to quickly get students access to key applications and websites like iReady, BrainPop, Typing Club, etc..
The fastest way to access Clever is through your sau74.org Bookmarks tab, but unfortunately that is only accessible if you are signed into your google account through the Chrome Browser.
But don't worry, you can access Clever quickly and easily simply be going to clever.com an any browser and sign in with your school-issued Gmail.
Padlet
Padlet is an application to create an online bulletin board that you can use to display information for any topic. Easily create an account and build a new board. You can add images, links, videos, and more.
Some teachers use Padlet as a place to collect and share work completed for a project, while others may use Padlet as a quick exit ticket or check in. In many cases teachers will share links with you to a Padlet in Google Classroom.
Flipgrid
Flipgrid is a website that allows teachers to create "grids" to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called "topics," and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display.
You can access Flipgrid on several different types of devices including your computers, phones, or tablets. You will need to have access to a device with a camera and microphone.
ThingLink
ThingLink is a friendly digital tool that provides users with the ability to turn any image into an interactive graphic. Users can easily augment photos with text, audio, closeup photos, links, and video creating images with sound, explaining what’s in the picture with notes and narration, documenting nature around them, sending instructions for how things work, or telling an engaging story of what they’ve just learned.
Formative
Formative, which is also known as GoFormative, is a web-based tool that allows teachers to create digital formative assessments, tasks, or assignments that are easily accessible from any electronic device:laptop, tablet, or smartphone
Jamboard
Jamboard is G Suite's digital whiteboard that offers a rich collaborative experience for teams and classrooms. Watch your creativity unfold: you can create a Jam, edit it from your device, and share it with others. Everybody can collaborate on the Jam anytime, anywhere.
Google Slides
Google Slides is a presentation program included as part of a free, web-based Google Docs office suite offered by Google since 2006 within its Google Drive service. Slides allows users to create and edit presentations online while collaborating with other users in real-time.
