Land Surface Temperature

This animated gif is showing the different temperatures of the all the pieces of land around the world. The colors flashing up and down represent how warm and how cold that area of land is. Temperatures range from -25 degrees celsius (darker blue) to 45 degrees celsius (yellowish orange) or pink. This gif is showing data recorded over the course of a year. Even though it only takes about 5 seconds to change temperatures around the map it is actually an entire years worth of different land temperatures. There are many different reasons for the Earth's land to heat up and cool down. One of the main reasons being is that the Earth is being not only warming itself up but also being warmed up by the extra bit of solar radiation.
