In seventh grade music class students learn to produce their own music. We work, using pianos on a program called 'Sound Trap' to compose pieces. We also learn to play piano. Students work alone and with others on pieces of music ranging from lesson book work to popular songs played by using chords.
In 8th grade music class, students explore instruments involved in modern band performance. Students start by learning body percussion and move quickly into experiencing the drum set. We then move onto basic guitar chords and bass guitar notes. If there is time we then break into groups and try to play songs in smaller sections. Students learn to work together and problem solve through small group performances.
