The Norway Maple is native to Europe, Western Asia, and southern Scandinavia. They are also said to be from China. The Norway Maple got to the US because John Bartram brought them from England in 1756 and started selling them. The Norway Maple spreads so much because of how fast it grows and when it's seeds fall they go down like a helicopter so they fly a good distance away from the main tree. The speed of it's growth is one of the main reasons it was bought in the first place. A good way to counter act the spreading of the Norway Maple is to plant Red Maples and/or Sugar Maples.
