Oriental bittersweet is native to China, Japan, and Korea and was introduced to the United States in 1860 as decorational plant. The Oriental Bittersweet is unfortunately here in Hopkinton and is spreading. It is in the North East and is spreading out. It is spreading so much because it takes over trees and other plants by strangling it and using the soil to plant others and cutting of the nutrients to everything around it. It is really hard to get rid of the Bittersweet the only way is to pull the plant out including it's roots.
