The Bittersweet is from Eastern Asia. the tree got to the U.S.A. from as an oriental plant, a plant for decorations, it got here in the 1860s. One of the reasons the Orientale Bittersweet is spreading so much is that many small birds and animals like to eat the berries, spreading the seed in a new area. It is possible to remove the plant from the ground you must, cut the stems near the ground and pull down the top of the vines. you then pull ALL the orange colored roots and leave them there to air dry on the ground, the next morning you would take the roots and thrown them out.
