Some committee members will hold a second community forum. This forum is intended to provide an update and solicit additional input from the community.
At 5:00 PM on Monday, December 9th, the members of the Redistricting Committee will give the school board a tour that will ultimately visit each of the elementary schools. The tours are designed to help the board understand the current usage of space in each building. While the tour is not designed specifically for the public, this is a public meeting of the board, and members of the public may attend. This set of tours will begin at Dondero and then proceed to Little Harbour and New Franklin.
At this meeting at New Franklin School, the committee discussed how the survey results shifts planning.
At this board meeting, the members of the Redistricting Committee reviewed the results of the parent/staff pre-K through grade five survey. Next steps in the process were also discussed.
At this meeting of the committee, the Superintendent presents. His pesentation includes a summary of feedback to this point, the goals of the process, and a thought exercise in thinking about how to achieve one proposal. At the end of the meeting, parents are given an opportunity to provide feedback.
During the portion of the agenda connected to community coorespondance, the board discusses the redistricting process. These meeting also features parents at citizens comments making suggestions.
Co-chair Kerry Nolte, Co-chair Byron Matto, and Superintendent Zach McLaughlin hosted a community forum in the public library's Levenson Room. It was well attended by parents.
PMS Prinicpal Phil Davis met with a few committee members to discuss the potential impact of moving all 5th graders to the middle school. The presentation helps convince committee that this possible solution creates too many additional issues to be recommended.
Work Done Prior to this version of the Committee
Group met with Planning Director Peter Britz and Howard Synder to discuss upcoming coming housing development for the city. By close of meeting, committee understood that Planning Department cannot project anticipated school enrollment as part of their process, but that most new housing would be in the Dondero catchment area.
