About Student Council

“The mission of Student Council is to develop leaders and strengthen the Portsmouth High School community.” To carry this mission every day, Student Council members:

1) act as model representatives to our school, Portsmouth High School alumni and the surrounding community.

2) act as a political voice for the student body.

3) foster an inclusive sense of community at Portsmouth High School.

Check out our current Student Council roster to see who your representatives are. Feel free to reach out to any member if you have any questions or suggestions. Students can also contact their representatives if they want to request a topic to be discussed at Senate meetings.

In 2015, the Student Council Constitution was drafted and ratified by the student members. This document outlines how the Student Council organization is structured. It also outlines the responsibilities of all its members and staff.

If an infraction occurs with Student Council members, we use the Student Council Restorative Contract Path.

Student Council Equity and Access Statement:

Student Council strives to develop leaders who organize inclusive, highly engaging opportunities that are accessible and respectful to all students. We remove barriers by working to make sure all students are able to participate in events regardless of financial status, ability, or location. We strive to proactively engage in efforts to achieve full inclusion for all students.
