Madame Piper's Tips for Success
How can I help my student succeed in World Language?
Encouragement & Support - Learning a foreign language is exciting, but sometimes challenging. Please reward achievement and promote culturally relevant opportunities for your student whenever possible.
Stay Connected - Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you have regarding your student’s progress in my course. Frequent communication between teacher and parents provides the student with a solid support system, which will enhance and improve learning.
… but what if I don’t speak French or Spanish? You do not have to be a French or Spanish speaker to help your child prepare and review for World Language class. A great way to become a part of your child’s learning is to review vocabulary with them or request for your child to teach you the topics they are currently learning in class. If you didn’t know French or Spanish before, you will certainly learn some French and Spanish through this check in!
… but what if I DO speak French or Spanish? For those of you who do speak French or Spanish or have French-speaking or Spanish-speaking relatives, please speak French/Spanish as frequently as possible at home. The best way to learn a foreign language is through total immersion.
