Winter 2022
KINDERGARTEN 2021
2021
Hola parents,
We recently took a pretend trip to Mexico in our World Language class. Here’s a postcard from our voyage! After learning Spanish colors, numbers and greetings, we received our boletos de avión (plane tickets) and boarded the plane where we ordered drinks in Spanish (jugo de naranja (orange juice) or agua (water)). Whichever drink we chose, we were sure to thank the flight attendant by saying “gracias”.
When we arrived in Mexico, we were hungry from traveling and we ordered Mexican food in Spanish. Then, we went off to explore Aztec and Mayan ruins. We imagined what it would be like to climb the 91 steps to the Chichen Itza temple! We learned about fútbol and what school is like in Mexico. After that we “visited” the many playas (beaches) Mexico has to offer. We learned about the interesting animals that live in Mexico and even saw some monarch mariposas migrating, so we sang the Spanish butterfly song we learned for them.
Before heading to the airport, we stopped at a tienda (store) and purchased tarjetas postales (postcards) because we wanted to make sure you knew all about our amazing trip. On our postcards we colored the bandera (flag) of Mexico (verde, blanco y rojo - green, white and red). What a trip!
We look forward to learning more about the Spanish speaking world during our next round of World Language!
Sinceramente,
Señora Piper

Dear Parents,
Hola and bonjour! My name is Ms. Piper and I am your student's World Language teacher this school year. I feel excited as I begin my eleventh year teaching and my fourth year here at RES!
In World Language, students learn both Spanish and French. For all grades, we will be spending the first part of the year learning Spanish and the second part of the year will be devoted to French.
If you have any questions, concerns or ideas to share with me regarding your student and our class, please do not hesitate to contact me by email at cpiper@sau50.org. I will be in touch with you throughout the school year through posts on this website. I am also happy to speak with you by phone, or conference with you in person. These phone calls and/or meetings are best scheduled via email to ensure a private time to talk. Please consider signing up for a time to meet with me during our parent/teacher conferences. I would love the opportunity to discuss your student’s progress with you.
This year will be one of tremendous growth in your child's ability to communicate and interpret both Spanish and French! I look forward to working with your student. It's going to be a great school year! ¡Gracias! Merci!
Sincerely,
Señora/Madame Piper
