I am so happy to be a part of the RMMS community! I taught for seven years in Hollis at HPS, the first year in third grade and the following six in Kindergarten, before making a return to third grade here at RMMS. This is my 9th year teaching! Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself:
I love to dance. I took dance classes for twelve years of grade school, through college, and most recently have taken adult tap, hip hop, and Zumba classes. I have danced in many genres including jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, and contemporary. I also really enjoy music. I find music very therapeutic and I will frequently play music in the classroom. I also love to go to Broadway shows and have been able to see some of my favorite actors and actresses perform live! Some of my favorites that I have seen are Hamilton, Hadestown, The Lion King, Les Miserables, and Wicked.
Another hobby that I have is reading. I LOVE to read. I enjoy all kinds of books from many different genres. One reason that I love summer so much is because I have lots of time to read outside. My favorite children's books are Sweep by Jonathan Auxier, The Vanderbeekers series by Karina Yan Glaser, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst, and the Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend. I can't wait to find out what your favorite books are!
Something else that I love to do is play games. Sometimes we have game nights with my friends or family and they are a lot of fun! I really like to play board games, card games, and any kind of trivia. I like to incorporate games into the curriculum because I think that it is a great way for students to learn and practice different concepts. I really like math games and you will get to learn how to play many this year!
