Reading Strategies

When reading with your child use these strategies to help them when they get stuck on a tricky word.  We practice these strategies in class as well as in our guided reading groups.  

Our goal is to have students figure out what to do without looking to an adult for help.  When students look to me to solve the word I ask, "what can you do when you get stuck"?  After they try I ask, "Does that make sense"?
