HBHS policy forbids student from carrying medication (prescription or over-the counter) on school grounds or during school activities. Epi-pens, asthma inhalers, emergency diabetic or seizure medications are exceptions to this rule, but must have written medical, parental and health office permission. All medications are required to be in their original packaging.
PRESCRIPTION MEDS
If your child requires prescription medication during the school day, we require a written order by the child's medical provider and parent's written authorization. Please make arrangements to drop off the medication with a school nurse and be sure it is in the original prescription bottle
OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION
Students should not carry over the counter medication in the school building or during school-sponsored activities. The HBHS Health Office offers some OTCs in generic form, if parents/guardians have given permission via Power School: Tylenol, Tums, Ibuprofen and Benadryl.
We will gladly hold a specific Over the Counter Medication for your child, if needed. We ask that you provide an unopened package of the medication with written parent permission and date.
MEDICATION DURING OVERNIGHT SCHOOL-RELATED TRIPS
With the exception of epi-pens, asthma inhalers, and seizure and diabetic supplies, ALL medication, including prescription meds, will be held and administered by a designated school staff member.
