Welcome to the Visual Arts!
The Hollis Brookline Middle School art program is focused on stimulating creative curiosity and providing each student the opportunity to feel individual success. I believe that because ideas come from personal experiences, every student has something artistically unique to offer.
For one marking quarter per year, 7th and 8th grade students at HBMS will explore creative projects inspired by great artists. Elements of Art and Principles of Design are integrated into two-dimensional and three-dimensional media including units on; self-expression, drawing, painting, color theory, ceramics, linear perspective and visual imagery.
My art room is an environment where students are encouraged to take artistic risks. Mutual respect, acceptance of responsibilities and organizational skills are elements that help create a low stress atmosphere for students to focus and develop a love for learning about and creating art.
DAILY EXPECTATIONS
Art class is a time for you to be expressive and to have fun. With this comes freedom and responsibility that you may not have in some of your other classes. Therefore, we follow a specific set of procedures and expectations.
