Newfound educators use multiple kinds of formative and summative assessments to continuously gather evidence of student learning, monitor student progress, and provide feedback to students about their strengths and areas of growth.
New Hampshire Statewide Assessment System (SAS)
Families can access their child's SAS data through the NH Department of Education Family Portal. Your child's school will provide their unique access code when scores become available.
New Hampshire SAT School Day with Essay
Students will be notified via the College Board when their scores become available. They can log in to their unique account to access their scores.
from Superintendent Paul Hoiriis:
The State of New Hampshire requires that all students take the SAS and SAT as part of our state accountability assessments. I would like to stress the importance of student participation in these assessments. The results of these assessments serve a number of purposes including providing our rating as a school on the State Department of Education website and informing us of the effectiveness of our instructional programming. Parents/guardians do have the right to opt their student out of testing, but given its importance to the district's and schools' accountability ratings, we hope that all student participate.
In addition to state assessments, Newfound educators use a variety of other formal assessments to assess student growth, learning, and progress, and to design instruction and interventions as needed. These include:
mCLASS (DIBELS 8th): used in grades K-5 as a universal screener for math and literacy skills
NWEA (MAP Growth): used as a universal screener and to track student growth for skills in math (grades 1-10), reading (grades 2-10), and science (grades 6-8)
PSAT/NMSQT: used in grades 9-11 to help students prepare for the SAT and to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program
