During the first quarter students will work to improve their comprehension skills. A mixture of whole class lessons using Making Meaning, small group lessons using Literacy Footprints, and independent practice using print and online resources will be used.

Students will plan, write, and revise persuasive and opinion essays. The goal is for them to produce clear and coherent writing.
