Health Resources

Welcome to the Health Education Resources page. Here, I will be adding articles and videos addressing various health issues that our Globe, Country and State are facing. Parents and students are encouraged to read or view these materials and ask any questions.

Mental Health

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Mindfulness

Each week, students participate in a mindfulness exercise such as this video. Students are familiar with the many benefits of these exercises. I urge you to try these at home, there are many videos on YouTube as well as a variety of apps that you can download on your phone or tablet.

Substance Abuse

Substance abuse refers to the harmful use of substances, including alcohol and illicit drugs. Psychoactive substance use can lead to dependence- behavioural, cognitive, and physiological phenomena that develop after repeated substance use and that typically include a strong desire to take the drug, difficulties in controlling its use, persisting in its use despite harmful consequences, a higher priority given to drug use than to other activities and obligations, increased tolerance, and sometimes a physical withdrawal state.
