Meet Mrs. Githmark!

I would like to welcome your family to my fifth grade classroom and introduce myself. I have worked in the Hooksett school system for the past 19 years and have earned my Masters Degree +30 additional credits from SNHU. I taught Special Education classes in grades 4 and 5 for the first 6 years of my career, and was previously known as Miss Nicoletti -- until I switched over to a fifth grade classroom for the remainder of my career. Soon thereafter I got married. My husband Andy and I live in Pembroke with our daughter, Madison. I became a beekeeper a few years back and enjoy flower gardening as well as traveling.

At the core of my educational philosophy is getting to know each of my students personally. When this happens, students take more ownership of their work, and put forth their best effort. We begin each day with a discussion of a current event, so that students can develop an awareness of the world around them. I take the time to model social skills and help students process social situations that may be difficult. If there is a behavior that is unfavorable, I take students out in the hall to process with them privately. I review my expectations of them and try to find a way to help them with their situation. Throughout the year, I teach time management and organizational skills--which I feel are crucial to success. Finally, I believe that children should have fun while learning. I try to create a comfortable classroom atmosphere where everyone has a voice and feels respected. I hope that my passion for teaching comes through in the excitement your children have for learning this year!
