Welcome to the home of the West Running Brook Music and Drama families! Here you can find all of the information regarding the Band, Chorus, and Drama Club at West Running Brook Intermediate School

BAND🎺

In Band we have a ton of fun while exercising our brains and stretching ourselves. We learn to measure note values and read pitch, while also learning how to create sound on an instrument. Students will also be able to compose their own music, shine as soloists, play in a concert band, and perform songs in smaller groups.  Did you know that playing an instrument while reading music is reported to be the only activity that activates every part of the brain in the same moment? Yes, reading music and playing an instrument is often challenging for most of us, but with that challenge comes joy, pride, perseverance, and music achievement. Band students will also have the following opportunities: Jazz Band (after school once/week), Composer's Club, and Conductors Club.

At this time, students will have to select chorus OR instrumental music/band, however we are investigating ways to accommodate student participation in both. Please email me at bsaranita@sau10.org  if you have a child who would be happiest if we find a way to navigate band and chorus. I cannot promise a solution, but I will try very hard.

I can't wait to teach you!

Chorus 🎵

Chorus (5th and 6th)-- read the description and then click the link to enroll in Chorus:

I am thrilled to invite your students to join our chorus program at West Running Brook Intermediate School. Chorus is a full year elective course, designed to provide students with a well-rounded music education and teach understanding of and appreciation for many types of music. Performance is key to a successful chorus program. All West Running Brook chorus students in grades 5-6 are provided with concert opportunities in order to learn proper concert etiquette and showcase their accomplishments throughout the school year. Our students perform all types of music, including jazz, folk, and even pop selections. Through repertoire, games and other challenges, students build fundamental singing skills and have fun in the process. I would love to have your student join our program! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Until the fall,

Mr. Gore
