The Mckinney-Vento Act is a federal law that helps protect your child’s education if your family is going through hard times and experiencing housing instability. If you are staying in a shelter, motel, car, or sharing a home with relatives or friends due to economic hardship, your child has the right to stay at their current school with free transportation provided.
