About the Job

We seek to hires a team that will work with the students, interns, and conference patrons who stay on the St. Ambrose University Campus.

We anticipate hiring 7 Summer Housing Assistants (SHAs) who will individually receive a small stipend and housing for the summer in exchange for offering programming, visibility, and a resources to campus residents.

Expectations & Duties

SHAs are expected to work 8 daytime hours per week in the Residence Life Office, do nightly rounds on a 7 person rotating basis, attend weekly staff meetings, and create community among our summer residents. No Residence Life experience required!

Contract dates: May 13, 2019 - August 16, 2019

Compensation

Free summer housing (average value: $1,519) and $500 split between four monthly installments

Offered from in March. Not all applicants will be offered an interview. Decision notifications will be emailed in early April.

Roles available within the position:

Lead Summer Housing Assistant (1 needed)

In addition to the expectations above, responsibilities include:

  • Interview and hire the Summer Housing Assistants with Professional Staff
  • Coordinate and manage the duty schedule for the Summer Housing Assistant team
  • Motivate and manage morale of Summer Housing Assistant team during projects with potentially competing timelines and deadlines
  • Manage the Summer Project List with Professional Staff guidance.

Conference Assistants (2 needed)

In addition to the expectations above, responsibilities include:

  • Manage the organization of conference keys and access cards.
  • Check rooms for readiness.
  • Assist with communication, billing, and room assignments for conferences.
  • Generally assist the professional staff in charge of conferencing.

Intern Assistant (1 needed)

In addition to the expectations above, responsibilities include:

  • Manage the check in/check out process for interns (approx. 5/25/18 and 8/1/18).
  • Assist with preparation of intern rooms.
  • Manage intern package distribution and communication.
  • Generally assist the professional staff in charge of intern housing.

Resident Assistants (2 needed)

In addition to the expectations above, responsibilities include:

  • Manage the check in/check out process for SAU student residents.
  • Assist with preparation of resident rooms.
  • Assist with communication to and from residents.
  • Generally assist the professional staff in charge of student housing.

Orientation/Housing Assistants (2 needed)

In addition to the expectations above, responsibilities include:

  • Manage the housing assignments for each of five summer orientations.
  • Assist with the check in/out process each of five summer orientations.
  • Assist the professional staff with First Year housing placement.
  • Generally assist the professional residence life staff.
