Information

Homework

5th graders are given time during the school day to complete their work. Sometimes they will have math or reading homework. Please see the "Homework" tab or your child's planner for more information.

It is always beneficial for you and your child to read at home!

Planners

Please check your child's planner every day for important information, homework, and paperwork. Planners should be signed by a parent or guardian nightly.

Snacks & Water

Students are allowed to bring a healthy snack and a water bottle to school. They will have time to eat their snack during morning recess.

Band & Orchestra

Students in 5th grade have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument in band or orchestra with Mrs. McKillip!  Students are expected to practice about 10 minutes 3-4 days a week at home and will have weekly lessons and large group rehearsals during the school day.  Most students who continue to play an instrument in middle school and high school also participate in many extra curricular activities such as: All Sports, Robotics/Coding Club, Forensics, Chess Club, Student Council, and many more!  Don't be afraid to try something new!  See Mrs. McKillip about trying an instrument and joining band or orchestra - it is never too late to start!

Reading (ELA) & Social Studies

Mrs. Cadwell teaches ELA (reading, writing, word study) and social studies. She will integrate 5th grade social studies topics into language arts, allowing students to make connections and deepen their understanding. Mrs. Cadwell will meet with small groups of students during ELA time in order to offer instruction and support at their individual levels.

Math & Science

Ms. Jetzer teaches math and science. She has always loved these subjects, and hopes that her interest comes through with the activities she does with students throughout the year.
