The 50th Annual Penn Linguistics Conference
The 50th annual Penn Linguistics Conference (PLC 50) will take place on February 28th and March 1, 2026, at the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia.
The PLC50 Organizing Committee is proud to announce that the call for papers is now open!
Deadline: Abstracts are due November 1st (23:59EDT). Notification of acceptance will be given by the end of December 2025.
Submission Guidelines:
Papers about language, on any topic in linguistics and associated fields, are welcome. Session topics in recent years have included phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics/discourse analysis, acquisition (L1 and L2), psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, computational linguistics, lexical semantics, mathematical linguistics, syntax-semantics interface, and language contact. We encourage abstracts on both spoken and sign languages.
Abstracts should be anonymized: please do not include your name or affiliation within the abstract. Please also note that each author may only submit one first-authored abstract.
If this is your first time creating an account on OpenReview, please note that activation may take up to two weeks, so we recommend planning accordingly. While accounts registered with an institutional email address (e.g., ending in .edu) are typically activated automatically, we advise against relying solely on this and encourage early registration.
Length: Please limit abstracts to two single-spaced pages in 12pt font, including examples, figures, and references. Examples and figures may be interspersed with text.
Format: To facilitate the review process, please submit your abstract as a PDF file.
Instructions for authors: To submit an abstract, you must follow these steps:

In the "Presenting Author" section, please indicate the presenting author(s). You may list more than one presenter.
In the "Presentation Type" section, please specify whether you would like your submission to be considered for oral presentation only, poster presentation only, or either option.
In the "Keywords" section, please list no more than 5 keywords for your abstract.
Please confirm your agreement by checking the boxes for "Permission to Publish" and "Author Approval".
In the "Subject Area" field, please select up to three subfields from the dropdown menu that best fits your submission, even if you feel that none of the options are perfect.
Upload your abstract. Submit a .PDF file in the "Upload abstract" field. Only .PDF files up to 500MB will be accepted.
Click "Submit." You will be directed to a summary page of your submissions. Abstracts will be reviewed anonymously.
Following the initial submission, you may make any necessary updates up to the submission deadline by logging in to OpenReview and navigating to your abstract.
Proceedings: Conference proceedings will be published as a volume of the Penn Working Papers in Linguistics. Speakers will be invited to provide camera-ready copies of their papers after the conference.
