Unique Offer
Unique Offer
Quite frankly, all Post-16 providers should be offering students the high quality of lessons and individual care that we give our Sixth Form students. Where Sarum Academy's Sixth Form stands out amongst other choices is the huge number of extras that we provide our students with, giving them unique experiences beyond the classroom that just aren't available at other Sixth Forms and Colleges.
Leadership and inter-personal skills are in every list of desireable employability skills, and with Year 7-11 students in the school, our Sixth Formers have a massive opportunity to gain those leadership skills through programmes such as:
Mentoring across all year groups
Reading with Year 7 students
Supporting individual students in lessons
Championing a subject for options choices
Supporting Year 11 students with exam preparation
Sports Leadership
Eco-Group
Diversity Group
School Council
Our partnership with Salisbury Football Club gives Sarum Academy's Sixth Form students:
Regular training sessions with Brian Dutton and Callum Hart, the First Team Manager and Assistant Manager at SFC
Weekly fixtures in a South West league
Work experience opportunities at the Raymac Stadium, including media, photography, sport, nutrition, business and more.
A route into Salisbury FC and non-league football
Our Sixth Formers have a separate building from the main school for our Common Room and Study Centre. Here, students can relax with friends between lessons with pool or video games, or get some focused study done in a purpose-designed silent study space with laptops and course books.
We know how important work experience is when applying for jobs, apprenticeships and Universities, so our Year 12 students are off timetable for a week to complete another purposeful chunk of work experience in their chosen fields.
We can also be flexible with ongoing placements for Year 13 students in order to give them the best start after finishing their courses.
Our £16million building is just over 10 years old, and is a fantastic open-plan space with:
£750,000 all-weather 3G Pitch
Fitness Suite with brand-new equipment
Fully-fitted Professional Kitchen
Industry-standard Teaching Salon
Large, bright classrooms
A means-tested bursary up to £1,200 is available for students to help with transport, equipment, technology and other course-related costs
Students can complete their Bronze, Sliver or Gold Awards with us while studying for their courses
Over the two years spent studying with us, students go on three University trips and undertake a short '4 Steps to Higher Education' course with the Wessex Inspiration Network
An opportunity at the end of the year to take part in trips at a reduced cost, so students can celebrate a hard year of work with their friends in places such as Thorpe Park, Splashdown and Go Ape
Each year, students get the opportunity to visit one of the country's big cities for sightseeing and shopping. The past two years, we've been to London to see iconic landmarks and explore Covent Garden and Trafalgar and Leicester Squares
We don't want transport to be a barrier for students when choosing the right Post-16 provider for them, so we provide our own transport through two routes in Salisbury and the surrounding areas. Wiltshire Council also provide a subsidy for students taking public transport to and from their place of study
‘Staff at Sarum Academy’s Sixth Form have been incredibly understanding and caring. Flexibility has been key, accepting my daughter as an individual, with her own needs - it always felt like other schools wanted to shoehorn her into a mould.’
- Parent of one of our Sixth Form students
‘All members of teaching staff are professional and approachable, and my daughter enjoys her lessons. I would definitely recommend Sarum Academy’s Sixth Form to other parents and students.’
- Parent of one of our Sixth Form students
‘The many and varied student leadership opportunities for Sixth Form students enable them to step outside of their comfort zone and take on wider responsibilities which support their personal development as well as their progression within the classroom.’
