Creative Writing

Students will learn how to produce quality writing of all different genres. Students will be given opportunities to enter different writing contests throughout their time in this course.

Forensic Science

Students can learn the science behind fingerprinting, DNA, and genetics. Detectives and Forensic scientists study biology, chemistry, and anatomy in their daily work.

Meet the Teacher

Mrs. Cotter is our Advanced Musics teacher. She has been with our district for 8 years now and is excited to work with our SOAR students on Music, Creative Writing and Forensic Science. She has degrees in classical performance, studied meter and poetry extensively in her graduate work and has taken many courses in Anatomy & Physiology as well as Forensic Sciences including Forensic Osteology. Mrs. Cotter is thrilled for the new SOAR curriculum which offers new opportunities for our South Amboy Scholars that is unlike any other program in New Jersey.
