Hybrid In-Person/Online Education Model

Hybrid In-Person/Online Education Model for Grades K-8

  • Hybrid In-Person/Online Education Model is option #2 for students in grades K-7 in Syracuse and K-8 in Utica.

In an A/B schedule, students will engage in in-person instruction with the teacher 2 days per week and engage with the teacher digitally three days a week. Students will receive instruction from their assigned grade teacher, and assigned specialist teacher. Students with diverse learning needs that require additional support will also receive instruction from Special Education and/or ELL teachers, as necessary, assigned and aligned with their needs. Special Education, ELL, and Intervention teachers will meet with students during the In-Person days and/or on Online Education days, as needed to facilitate their students’ diverse learning needs.

SANY will offer to all ELL and Special Education students in grades K-12 to attend hybrid learning 4-days per week. We will periodically reassess the effectiveness of online instruction for all students in order to maximize learning. We may make adjustments to students' learning model (online or hybrid) by reassigning students to increase in-person learning opportunities based on their individual learning needs and CDC guidelines.

In-Person

The teacher and assigned students are on-site in the traditional classroom setting, using digital and core resources for instruction.

At-Home Online Education

While the assigned teacher is engaging other students in the traditional classroom setting, students are working independent of the teacher and are completing independent tasks aligned to grade-level skills and competencies. The grade assigned teacher may assign a student who is not in the classroom to join teacher-facilitated small group instruction based on the specific instructional needs of a student. The times/week for online education is contingent upon the school’s instructional schedule.
