Full-Time Online Education Model

Full-Time Online Education Model

  • Full-time online education model is option #1 for students in grades K-7 in Syracuse and K-8 in Utica.

  • Students in grades 8-12 in Syracuse and 9-12 in Utica will participate ONLY in Full-Time Online Education.

In this model, students in all grade levels would engage in both online, synchronous (live) and asynchronous (independent) learning 5 days per week, Monday through Friday.

New instructional content will be offered to all students, attendance will be required, and student work will be graded. At the high school level, SANY expects to be able to enroll students in the majority of SANY core and elective courses. It is important to note that there are some limitations based on student interest and our ability to provide appropriate staffing for each course. While SANY will do everything possible to offer Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrollment (DE) classes virtually, these classes are not guaranteed and will depend on many factors including the number of students who opt for the distance model. Some specialized programs and course offerings may not be supported, such as those with significant lab or in-person participation requirements.

SANY will offer to all ELL and Special Education students in grades K-12 to attend hybrid learning 4-days per week. We will periodically reassess the effectiveness of online instruction for all students in order to maximize learning. We may make adjustments to students' learning model (online or hybrid) by reassigning students to increase in-person learning opportunities based on their individual learning needs and CDC guidelines.
