Message to Students and Families:
I hope you and your loved ones are doing well. We have been going through an unprecedented time period with so many changes in a short amount of time. We are aware that it causes so much stress for our community at UAS.
To make it a smooth transition, the entire UAS community has been working so hard since the beginning of school closure. Some of the actions taken are as follows:
All UAS teachers have launched their Google classrooms as of March 16 and available to scholars to provide support.
Chromebooks are made available to check out for all scholars between Tuesday 3/17- Thursday 3/19.
Grab and go breakfast and lunch are available for all UAS students daily at the middle school location.
All UAS staff and faculty have been in contact with scholars and parents in multiple ways including phone calls, emails, Google Classroom, and remind app.
UAS HS teachers will be flexible with late assignments and extend due dates for scholars. Reach out to specific teachers for details.
I would like to share a few practices that I believe will help our scholars during COVID-19 days:
Time Management. Create a daily schedule and go through your day based on your schedule. Here is an example. Check out this website to create your own daily schedule.
Study Time: Log in your Google classrooms daily and spend at least 4-5 hours a day for school work.
Zoom Online Tutoring: Contact your teachers for help & attend online zoom tutoring. All teachers have office hours that you can reach in this link here.
Reduce Distraction: Silence your phone and turn off all notifications while studying.
Relax and Connect: Spend some time outside with no electronics. Limit your exposure to daily news and social media and find some time to relax during the day.
Based on the experts' opinions and recent development, this process may take longer than expected. Please note that we will weather this challenge together as a UAS community. We set up a weekly check-in time with all of our scholars via your counselors and deans.
I appreciate your hard work and support during this time period. Please feel free to contact me via email m.ersoy@sany.org.
Stay safe and stay healthy.
Mr. Ersoy
UAS High School Dean
