The Elementary school track meet restarted in 1995 with direct support from then Superintendent Ray Tolleson and Administrator Ted Darrow. After Ray Tolleson’s retirement, the track meet was named The Ray Tolleson Elementary School Track Meet in his honor.
The first meet was held at El Camino High School for all 5th and 6th grade boys and girls in our district.
In 2002, the track meet moved to Bella Vista High School to utilize the all weather track. Student athletes participate in two field events, the shot put and long jump, as well as three track events, consisting of 70 meter hurdles, 270 meter run and 70 meter dash.
In 2012 the 4th graders were also invited to attend, making it possible for over 300 students to be part of a fun and challenging activity.
In 2016 the track meet was moved to Del Campo High School.
The track meet has run every year since 1995 except for 1998 when it was canceled due to rain and 2020-2021 due to Covid.
In 2022 3rd graders were invited to the meet to allow more opportunities for kids to participate.
The 2022 meet was our highest attended meet with a total of 418 participants!
In 2023 the running distances were changed to consist of a 60 meter hurdles, 200 meter run, and a 60 meter dash.
2025 Marks our 30th Year Anniversary of running this amazing event!
Since 1999 the Ray Tolleson Elementary Track meet has had over 3,818 participants!
