You MUST choose a book that

• you have not taken a quiz on before (at any time)
• is one of the approved genres: Historical Fiction (taking place during ancient history), Poetry (must be an anthology--more than one poem), or Biography/Autobiography (must be more then 75 pages)
• is at your AR level or above (if you tested at grade 6.0 or above, you may choose a book at level 6.0 or above--regardless of where you tested)
• is in alignment with your family values

Your AR book MUST be approved by both your parent AND Mrs. Gates.

You MUST take the AR quiz in class. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Due Dates (You may read the genres in any order--choose wisely!):

• Reading Logs are due (for a grade) every Friday after book-approval day. Late reading logs are not accepted for any reason.

Genre 2 Book Approval: November 30

Genre 2 Handout, Project, & Quiz: January 18

Genre 3 Book Approval: February 1

Genre 3 Handout, Project, & Quiz: March 1

You should be answering the questions on your handout AS YOU READ your book.

Handouts that do not have sixth grade paragraphs AND citations will not be accepted.
