All SFFS students are required to attend LRP for one week each semester.
VA students have to attend a LRP week every semester at our campus in order to receive the "in residency" housing allowance (BAH) for the school zip code. There are No Exceptions. That includes (but is not limited to): health issues, Covid, lack of funds to travel to the LRP, life circumstances, etc.
If a VA student does not have "in residency" attendance, then they are considered a distance/remote student.
SFFS is required to report to the VA any student that does not attend the mandatory LRP week. The final attendance report will be sent after the final week of LRP concludes, not after the VA student's LRP week.
Once the school reports to the VA of the students absence from the mandatory requirement, the student can reach out to the VA directly and discuss any medical issues or life events that prevented them from attending LRP. It is up to the VA to grant waivers or anything needed and not the school. The VA is the only one that can determine the course of action needed on your BAH funds and if they will allow any excused absence from LRP.
Extremely important - You will have to pay back to the VA any funds received for not fulfilling the mandatory requirements from the beginning of the semester until the end of the semester (there is no partial semester).
