On the Progressive Methodist [public] Facebook group is the folloing: "John’s Gospel Jesus is purported as saying, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me' (John 14:6). No historical/critical biblical scholar actually believes Jesus said this. This originated from John and his community, not Jesus. " These are the kinds of beliefs held by many progressives.
